The Beginnings of Twirl with Me, Mama! Rebecca’s Perspective

Co-written with my incredible daughter, Melissa, this heartfelt children’s book captures the essence of family love amid life’s challenges. Melissa, my hero, bravely shares her own experiences with chronic illness, offering a poignant perspective on the ups and downs of family life.

At the center of the story is Ivy, a young girl who grapples with feelings of confusion and frustration as she observes her best friend’s mother doing things her own mother cannot. When her emotions boil over, Ivy expresses her anger, realizing that life isn’t always fair. It’s through this moment of recognition that Ivy understands her mother’s unwavering love remains constant, even amidst limitations. The metaphor of twirling becomes a cherished symbol of their bond, illustrating how simple acts can create joyful, loving memories.

Emma Valenghi’s illustrations beautifully bring Ivy’s world to life, infusing each page with warmth and vibrancy that reflects the story’s emotional depth. We are beyond thrilled to feature her stunning art in “Twirl With Me, Mama!”

Melissa and I have poured our hearts into this story, aiming to address the complexities of chronic illness while celebrating the beautiful moments that make life meaningful. Join us on this journey of love, understanding, and twirling joy!
